Applications are invited for the following post

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER – REF: 14/2024
Specified Purpose Contract to cover maternity leave
 (39 hours per week with occasional evening work)
Community Support Services, Cork

The Role

The Brothers of Charity Community Support Services promotes independence by providing a holistic quality service to people with intellectual disabilities as required in all aspects of their lives including the areas of work, living, recreational pursuits and personal development.

Qualifications / Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will be motivated, flexible and innovative in their approach to service delivery. Have the ability to communicate at all levels and deal with crisis situations as they arise. He/she must  
 
  • Have an appropriate 3rd level qualification Level 7 or higher on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework in Community Development, Health Care or Education.
  • Have a minimum 3 years post graduate experience of working with adults with an intellectual disability /Dual diagnoses /autism in mainstream community setting.
  • Have a high degree of flexibility, organisational and communication skills and the ability to work on one’s own initiative and within a team.
  • Have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads with means of transport.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary context is desirable
  • Practical experience of using various methods of person centred planning is highly desirable

The appointee must have the ability to enable and empower person’s supported to choose their lifestyle of choice.   This choice in all areas of living, work and social activities ensuring adequate support is agreed and provided.   The appointee needs the ability to work in challenging situations and have a good standard of professionalism so as to be able to have a positive motivational relationship with the person supported.   The person appointed must be able to work effectively on one’s own as well as being part of a team.  

Salary Scale:  €38,238 - €52,055 per annum including 2 LSI’s (1/1/24 LRA) 
*    Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date.  Failure to do so will mean that any incremental credit due now will only be paid from date of submission of documents.
